Actress Sola Kosoko Abina, daughter of jide Kosoko has delivered a baby boy.
The Actress who tied the knot in January 2012 welcomed her first child on the 22nd  of June, 2014 in Lagos.
Confirming the news, Jide Kosoko who couldn’t hide his excitement said, ‘As expected, I am very excited and I feel blessed too. I can’s but thank God for his blessings in my life as well as my children and their families.”
The baby is Kosoko’s seventh grandchild.

Herdsmen Sack Kogi Community, Police Records No Arrest

 Heavily armed and dangerous group of herdsmen attacked Miza community in Kupaland, Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, destroying homes and properties according to local police and journalists.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no mention of casualties, but a number of refugees have been reported in surrounding communities.

The locals claimed the Fulani herdsmen attacked after accusing the locals of stealing and killing their cows.

Witnesses told reporters that news of an impending attack got to Miza residents a few days after the herdsmen launched an initial assault on the area, prompting many residents to flee to neighbouring communities.

One Miza Indigene said that the recent attack occured just hours after the state Police command held a peace meeting between the leaders of Miza and Fulani communities.

He said: We are surprised at the recent attack on our community because it came hours after we had a meeting at the Police headquarters in Lokoja.
“The Police had appealed to representatives of Kupa and Fulani communities to stop all forms of hostilities and allow peace to prevail in the area. Hours after the peace meeting, the herdsmen struck and ravaged our community.”

According to the eyewitness acount about 1,000 armed Fulani herdsmen were heading towards Miza.

The people, not willing to engage the attackers, sought refuge in neighbouring community and watched the herdsmen set their homes on fire.
Earlier this week, some suspected herdsmen were said to have attacked the village but the local vigilante repelled the attack and killed five of the suspected herdsmen while the others fled.

One journalist said: “Earlier in the week, some Fulani herdsmen had attacked Miza but the vigilante in the community repelled and killed five of them”.
“However, one person from Miza and another from Gbeduma community lost their lives during the fighting.”

Meanwhile, the Kogi Commissioner for Information, Zainab Okino has confirmed the incident and said there has been no casualty recorded.
He said: “There was an attack this morning but there was no casualty recorded. There was an earlier incident where the Fulanis alleged that the Miza people killed their cows and they went and attacked them.

“There has been crisis in the area and we have been trying to resolve the situation. We held a meeting with them yesterday and today (Saturday) we did the same thing.”

TOTAL BLOODY: Boko Haram kills about 2,000 in latest attack

The Amnesty International has described the January 3 attack on Baga community in Borno State as the very deadliest in the history of Boko Haram’s over five-year reign of terror in Nigeria, saying about 2,000 people may have been killed during the by the heartless terrorists.

Amnesty, in a statement on Friday, said it had reports of the town being razed to the ground, leaving around 2,000 people dead in the process.

A researcher for Amnesty International in Nigeria, Daniel Eyre, said, “The attack on Baga and surrounding towns looks as if it could be Boko Haram’s deadliest act in a catalogue of increasingly heinous attacks carried out by the group. 

“If reports that the town was largely razed to the ground and that hundreds or even as many as two thousand civilians were killed are true, this marks a disturbing and bloody escalation of Boko Haram’s ongoing onslaught against the civilian population.”

“We are currently working to find out more details of what happened during the attack on Baga and the surrounding area. This attack reiterates the urgent need for Boko Haram to stop the senseless killing of civilians and for the Nigerian government to take measures to protect a population who live in constant fear of such attacks,” Eyre added.

Since 2009 when the sect began its deadly campaign, targeting civilians and military personnel through raids and bomb attacks, scores of lives have been lost. According to United States-based Council on Foreign Relations, more than 10,000 were killed by the group last year alone, many of them children and old people.

Meanwhile, shooting and heavy artillery fire were heard on the outskirts of Damaturu on Friday, Reuters reported. Credible sources told Seyi Paul's blog that the state is under serious terrorist attack.

Police arrest lorry with ballot boxes in Ibadan

With less than five weeks before the 2015 general elections, the Oyo State police command has announced that a lorry conveying ballot boxes was found in the Yemetu area of Ibadan on Wednesday, December 7, 2015.

According to Punch newspaper report online, the ballot boxes, which were later discovered to belong to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were stored in a 40-feet container.

It was gathered that the trailer was arrested on the suspicion that it was carrying contraband items but was later discovered that its contents were ballot boxes meant for the next month election in Osun State.

The trailer and the consignment were later released after police investigation revealed that the boxes were being transported to Osun State by INEC, the report stated.

It was however disclosed that the arrest created political tension as politicians made effort to know if the boxes were empty or stuffed with ballot papers.

A source informed that rumour spread in the city that a certain political party had connived with INEC to bring in thumb-printed ballot papers into Oyo State.

“A trailer carrying a 40-feet container with registration number FKJ 285 XN was actually impounded by the police but after a thorough check, it was cleared and released,” the source stated.

While conmenting on the development, the spokesman for the Oyo State Police Command, Mr. Kayode Ajisebutu, said he could not confirm the incident.

He said he was outside the state and could not get through to the Commissioner of Police.

In a related development, the immediate past Resident Electoral Commissioner in Cross River State, Mr. Mike Igini, has said INEC will no longer be the tool for manipulation by some politicians but a national institution committed to the conduct of free, fair and credible elections.

Igini, who said this on Wednesday at the unveiling of INEC Conference Hall in Calabar, also decried the lack of internal democracy in political parties.

“This year’s election will be a watershed, a paradigm shift that would bring about the hope of integrity and reliability unequalled in our electoral history. At all times we strive to do what is right. The commission will no longer be the tool for manipulation by some politicians.

“Our commitment to do the right thing was initially misunderstood especially our emphasis on internal party democracy which is still a problem today, where parties do not even have a minimum requirement of credible register of delegates before conducting elections.

“It is inconsiderable that INEC would conduct elections that would be acceptable by the Nigerian people without having a register of voters published. The foundation of any good elections must start with the existence of a credible and reliable register of voters,” he said.

Tens of thousands of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members across the South West are to converge on the Tafawa Balewa Square grounds in Lagos for the flag-off of the South West re-election campaign of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan/Arch Namadi Sambo.

The two governors of the PDP in the South West, Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo and Ayo Fayose of Ekiti will be joined by party leaders from the zone to host the president and all other party leaders from other parts of the country. Governorship candidates of the party are also to be presented to the public at the campaign ground.
While the president is expected to seize the opportunity to apprise the people of the zone of the successes recorded by his government, he will also take the chance to woo the people of the region, reputed to be the most politically sophisticated in Nigeria.
GEJ sources said will remind the people of the region of how his government remodelled the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) in Ikeja, the Murtala Muhammed International Airport wing, and is reconstructing the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which for the last decade or more has been left in a sorry state. He is also expected to speak about the steady and fast intervention in the rail sector with the return of railways with new train engines and luxury coaches, as well as the reconstruction of the Apapa/Oshodi Expressway, leading to the nation’s ports.
The choice of Tafawa Balewa Square as venue, PDP sources said was because it hosted the ceremonies of Nigeria’s independence as well as being in Lagos where the largest number of voters reside in the country. One PDP leader said it is also not going to be about politics alone as musicians and comedians are expected to grace the event.
