Chris Pratt named Hasty Pudding’s 2015 Man of the Year

Chris Pratt has been named Hasty Pudding’s 2015 Man of the Year.
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star will be honored by the oldest theatrical organization in the US at a parade and roasting ceremony at Harvard University on February 6 for becoming “a bona fide Hollywood heavyweight in the past year.”
News that the 35-year-old actor will bestowed with the prestigious honor comes less than a week after Hasty Pudding announced his ‘Parks and Recreation’ co-star Amy Poehler as its 2015 Woman of the Year.
In a statement the organization said: “The Pudding is excited to honor a performer who became a bona fide Hollywood heavyweight in the past year, going from lovable supporting roles to headlining two of the highest grossing blockbusters of the year.”
Hasty Pudding president Jason Hellerstein added: “We vehemently deny that the members of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals are obsessed with ‘Parks and Recreation’. There is absolutely no basis to the rumors of ritualistic weekly viewings of the show at the Hasty Pudding Clubhouse. … Joking aside, Chris Pratt’s recent achievements as an actor are outstanding and we could not be more thrilled to host him and celebrate his talent as only the Pudding can.”
Chris shared his excitement on Twitter after the news was announced, writing: “I still can’t believe Harvard University has awarded me the Hasty Pudding Man of the Year Degree in Medicine.”
Last year, the titles were bestowed on Dame Helen Mirren and Neil Patrick Harris, while previous winners include Anne Hathaway, Halle Berry, Claire Danes, Charlize Theron, Kiefer Sutherland, Justin Timberlake, James Franco and Jay Leno.

Accused death car driver was on bail

THE alleged driver of a stolen car involved in the death of a 17-month-old girl was released on bail for serious offences two months after the state government relaxed the NSW bail laws.

Tateolena Tauaifaga was killed as she was playing in her backyard at Constitution Hill on Thursday night when Christopher Chandler, driving a stolen Audi, allegedly ploughed through a fence and hit the little girl. Police late yesterday arrested Chandler on the Central Coast. He will appear in court today.

Police were last night yet to charge Chandler in relation to the girl’s death. Investigations were continuing. Chandler was charged and jailed on March 12 last year for an alleged violent home ­invasion, robbery, car theft and drug possession but was released on bail on July 16 after the state government ­relaxed the bail laws.
The government has since been forced to review the laws after a number of high-profile cases of accused killers and rapists being released. The tougher laws will not be ­enforced until January 28.

“This is a classic example of where the interim bail laws have let the community down, and now we have a young girl dead,’’ Victims of Crime ­Assistance League vice-president Howard Brown said.
“This man has had an ­appalling record and was always at risk of not meeting his bail conditions. It’s a tragedy.’’
NSW Attorney-General Brad Hazzard told The Daily Telegraph last night it would be harder for serious offenders to get bail when the new bail laws came into effect.

“This is an example of why the Baird government has changed the Bail Act, to ensure people like Chandler are more likely to be behind bars than on the streets,” he said.
Chandler, who has a lengthy criminal history, was ordered to pay $700 surety and report to Redfern police station twice a day. He also had a curfew ordering him to stay at a designated residence between 8pm and 7am. His last court appearance was in November last year.

Comedian Bovi shares his experience with a Port Harcourt prostitute

Comedian Bovi took his instagram page today to tell a story of how a prostitute in Port Harcourt helped him out a while back when he needed help. Amazing story. Read below

I had just resumed school for second semester 300 level. This was February 2000. My mission was to storm port-harcourt from abraka and surprise my older sister who had just moved to another apartment. All I had was the address to the new apartment. I've always loved to pull surprises and this was my biggest one at the time. I arrived ph in the evening via public transport and traced her new place. Me wey plan to surprise my sister con surprise myself. She had not moved in. Her present address, I didn't have.

Gsm; non-existent at the time, her office? Closed. I was practically stranded in the garden city. After recovering from my rude shock, I took the first 2 foolish decisions. I hailed a cab and told the can to take me to a happening joint. The type that runs all night. He told me it was a Tuesday, the happening joints really don't happen on Tuesday. I insisted there had to be one. Well he jad money to make, so he obliged me. We got there. Dead end. Even the band members and the Dj were off duty. We tried a second spot. No luck. By this time it was past 9pm. So it dawned on me that I should have been looking for a hotel. By the time I checked 2 hotels, I realized that had I not made wayward stops, I'd have been able to pay for a room. Think Bovi, think! I asked again where I could possibly chill till daybreak. A commercial nerve. Someone mentioned "opposite hotel presidential." When I got to hotel presidential; opposite it that is; I was relieved. 

The groove was real. Outdoor joints, several bar tenders. Pot bellied men with pretty women drinking away their stress. I found my spot, got a seat, weighed my purse and saw that my vex money had been severely eroded. I couldn't even afford a drink. But hey, I could watch. The ladies of the night were present on their droves( soliciting customers). It was a sight to behold. Of they got lucky, they hopped into vehicles of strange men. I enjoyed all I saw until it was midnight and the unexpected happened. All d joints started to lock up. On no time it was just me and the night nurses left on the road side.  Why you no go stay hotel" "why you no go your sister house" "why she Neva pack go her new house?" I had answered all these questions repeatedly.
