2015 Polls: 48 PDP Leaders Join APC

Reports reaching us from Akure, the Ondo State capital, inform that no fewer that 49 leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  have defected to the All Progrfessives Congress, APC.
According to the report, former Speakers in Ondo State House of Assembly, five Commissioners in Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s administration and eight local government chairmen in Ondo State are among those that dumped PDP for APC in a rally in Akure today.

It was also disclosed that scores of councilors are also part of the defection train.
The defectors were led by former Chief of Staff to the late Governor Segun Agagu, Mr Femi Agagu, it was gathered.

The greatest shock at the rally is the defection of former Speaker Victor Olabimtan, a director in President Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation and also a current member of the Federal Civil Service Commission, a source added.

It was gathered that the defecting PDP leaders also led thousands of their supporters to dump PDP for APC at a ceremony that took place at APC secretariat along Oyemekun Road, Akure.
As a result of the massive defection, the Jonathan Campaign Organisation has cancelled PDP’s presidential campaign scheduled to hold in Akure on Wednesday, another source stated.
This is because majority of known supporters of the President have defected to APC or have traveled out of town.
All mobilization efforts for the rally have crashed, forcing PDP leaders to opt for cancellation of Akure rally tomorrow, according to PDP sources in Ondo State.
