Why We Begged Buhari To Come Rescue Nigeria — Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress’s (APC) presidential campaign’s whistle stop tour of all 36 states moved on Tuesday to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The delegation was led by the presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari along with his vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. Other members of the party were also in attendance including the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the former Governor of Osun state, Bisi Akande.

Championing the cause for the presidential candidate the party’s national leader, Tinubu revealed Muhammadu Buhari’s initial reluctance to run in the elections. “We begged Muhammadu Buhari to contest again,” he said in Yoruba. “Nigeria is challenged and we present to you a great leader who has the ability to think and do and equals to performance. Buhari is the man that can deliver because he is honest, he has integrity.”

Muhamamdu Buhari himself then took to the stage, reiterating his commitment to restoring security, power supply, and infrastructure. He also spoke on the vital importance of reforming the Nigerian education sector. “Certificates from Nigerian universities must be respected throughout the world,” he said.

All were warmly received by the incumbent governor, Ibikunle Amosun. Hajia Aisha Buhari and Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, the wives of both the presidential and vice presidential candidates, were also present.

The day kicked off with a courtesy with a visit to the palace of the Alake of Egbaland, and then proceeded to the Moshood Abiola Stadium, where party dignitaries addressed the mammoth crowd present.
